Prerequisites:
To be eligible for PADI Open Water Instructor training, you must:

  • Be certified as a PADI Divemaster or PADI Assistant Instructor, or be a certified instructor with another training organization for at least six months (contact a PADI Course Director or reach out to us to verify your qualifications).
  • Be certified as an Emergency First Response Instructor.
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Be a certified diver for at least six months.
  • Have at least 60 logged dives, including night dives, deep dives, and navigation dives, to participate in the Instructor Development Course. You’ll need 100 logged dives to take the Instructor Exam.
  • Provide proof of CPR and First Aid training within the last 24 months. The Emergency First Response course satisfies this requirement.
  • Be fit to dive and submit a medical statement signed by a doctor within the last 12 months.
