You will also complete a skills assessment with your PADI Self-Reliant Diver Instructor before beginning the course.
While diving with a buddy is the standard, there are times when an experienced diver should develop self-reliance and independence. Learning how to dive without a partner can enhance your skills and make you a more confident diver in various situations.
Course Description
With the proper training, equipment, and mindset to manage the risks of independent diving, experienced divers can responsibly engage in solo dives. Self-reliant diving is an adventurous activity that’s not for everyone, but it has its place in the diving world. If you have the mental discipline and commitment to mastering self-reliant diving techniques, you’ll strengthen your skills and gain confidence when diving alone, with a dive buddy, or as part of a team.
Prerequisites: PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, at least 18 years old, and 100 logged dives to enroll in the Self-Reliant Diver course.
