Course Duration: 5-9 days (depending on the option chosen)
Level Achieved: IDC Staff Instructor

Description
The PADI IDC Staff Instructor course trains Master Scuba Diver Trainers to act as assistants during instructor training courses. This program covers the entire PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) curriculum and requires candidates to participate in evaluations, demonstrate excellent teaching skills, and have a strong understanding of diving theory.

This course provides PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainers with the training needed to teach the Assistant Instructor course and be part of the teaching team during PADI Instructor Development Courses (IDC). The course offers two options to best meet the specific needs of candidates.

COURSE OPTIONS

Option A
Duration: 9 days
This program begins 2 days before a standard IDC. During these 2 days, IDC Staff candidates will be evaluated on the 20 Open Water Course exercises and two teaching presentations (one theoretical presentation and one confined water presentation). They will also need to pass the Standards and Procedures exam and a test on five diving theory topics (physics, physiology, decompression theory, equipment, skills, and environment) with a minimum score of 80%.
After this evaluation phase, candidates will attend at least 4 lessons presented by a Course Director, where they will learn the philosophy and methodology of the evaluations applied in PADI instructor training.
Candidates will then follow a full 7-day IDC.

Option B
Duration: 5 days
During the first 2 days, candidates will follow the same program as Option A. Afterward, IDC Staff Instructors will complete their training by presenting the 7 components of the Assistant Instructor program. They will be guided and corrected by the Course Director to prepare to teach this program independently while adhering to PADI's teaching standards.
